So today, i did a little taste test for you all.
I went to Trader Joe's and bought their salads, and ate them throughout the day to see which one's are the best.
Here is the skinny on the best trader joes salads that you should buy for your next on-the-go meal where you want some BANG for your buck. (get this: ALL are under $5.)
p.s. they have SOOO many options to choose from and I only sampled 3 of the maybe 11 or 12. So if any of the options I have listed don't really do it for ya- i'd encourage you to head over there to see if anything catches your fancy! The general sense I got with every salad, is that you can't go wrong, they are all delicious. And I will be adding salads to this post and ranking them as I try out more.
There was a beet salad and thats the one I'm trying next. I could hear my mom's voice saying "oh yes! beets!" my mom looooves beets. So i wanna try that one out next! hi mom!
THE SALADS TO LOOK OUT FOR:
Eating healthy foods and eating to a certain satiation level (i.e. only when you're hungry- and not over eating when you are feeling replenished) is a sign of self respect.
But life is also about balance, and sometimes, it is important to occasionally have that cone of Ben and Jerrys. I know I do. I looooove cookie dough ice cream! And why should I pass up on that? Yes, it is important to do so mindfully. So say if you have the Ben and Jerry's pass up on the other thing later.
Don't restrict yourself against the things you crave- but what is great about my blog is that you don't have to restrict yourself at all, because the very satiation you may get from ice cream I have now found to give you the same pleasure- just without the major calories. But of course, sometimes, you just WANT the ben and jerrys in which case I say, dude, go for it. I know i do.
I, you, we, are worth eating healthy, but sometimes, at least in my case, my body needs some gluten free dairy free pizza. (yes, i know, it kinda sucks. But I guess there is a bright side: that staying thin is quite easy for me since it's hard to find anything I can eat.... It's important to look for a bright side when life gives you lemons haha.)
The thing they say about breakfast being the most important meal of the day, I personally hold truthful. I loooove oatmeal. I need a thicker, more substantial thing in the morning. And oats are perfect for providing you with that steady release of energy. (Apples are great for this too, for those looking for something different- whether it be less calories, something crunchier, or maybe, you just don't like oatmeal!)
And Quaker oats has a great oatmeal, low in cals, and as it must be to make it into my life (lol), DELICIOUS. I would not suggest anything to you little love bugs that was not palatable. Life is so sweet, and who said low cal or healthy had to be bad? Noooo thank you! Not on my planet. In fact, it will probably taste better than the high calorie stuff, just because it's everything u want (substantially for your body) minus the guilt.
SO there are two different kinds of oatmeals below, and I have done the taste test so YOU don't have to! Go for the QUAKER skip the OatFit.
U get fit at the gym not via oatmeal-- that should have been the first sign.
This drink is starting to make serious waves in the elite fitness world of LA, and will be spreading rapidly i am SURE. All of the celebs and fitness pros alike are drinking this and there is a damn good reason. its FOOKIN AMAZING. Pre workout, drink some of a Celcius finish it if you're feeling rebellious ;) . It is proven to give you more energy and burn more calories. And at 10 calories a bottle you will be wishing Celcius had come into the picture waaaayyy sooner. It's about to get hot in that spin class because you're gonna be whooping some serious ass. How much hotter? Depends. We measuring in degrees or in celcius?

Halo Top, Halo Top, Halo Top- where to even begin?! These ice creams are truly amazing. They come in a variety of flavors (in fact, 10 new ones were just released!) and are all under 360 calories a PINT. Yes, that is right- the ENTIRE PINT. If you have stopped reading this post, and are already RUNNING to the grocery store, believe me, I understand.
Now of course you are gonna wanna splurge on ben and jerrys occasionally. I do that too. But this is a great staple product for ice cream!
Most of their pints are around 240 cals a pint. With so much to choose from, and all relatively low in calories for those of us looking to satiate that sweet tooth, you can't go wrong!
So with those of you like myself with a major sweet tooth but also don't want to have to deal with major calories, this is WORTH the splurge.
They are absolutely delicious and totally satisfying. Infact, I'd say it tastes even better than most ice creams, because it is ALL the flavor minus any guilt. Now thats some bang for ur buck!!!
